[ARCHIVED] Already Experiencing a Record Summer, Snowmass Village Preps for Tough Mudder

Tough Mudder August 25 – 26 will draw more than 10,000 athletes and spectators

August 17, 2018—Snowmass Village, Colo.—Approximately 9,000 athletes and spectators from around the country are coming to Snowmass Village August 25 - 26 for Tough Mudder Colo., a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed to test all-around strength, stamina, teamwork, and mental grit.

This event comes on the heels of an already record-breaking summer. According to Desti-Metrics occupancy reports, lodge occupancy in Snowmass Village eclipsed the 70% mark for the month of July – the first time ever for a summer month in Snowmass Village.

With participant numbers anticipated near 8,000 on Saturday, August 25th and 1,000 on Sunday, August 26th, Tough Mudder will be Snowmass Village’s largest event of the summer to date.

The obstacle course, designed to maximize variety, topography, and excitement, utilizes several town roadways, easements, and trails, resulting in several short-term community impacts such as traffic delays, limited parking, and trail closures.

On Saturday, August 25th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, August 26th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., residents can expect the following:

Traffic, Roads, and Parking

  • Bus traffic only on upper Brush Creek Road (from the roundabout to Divide Rd.) A detour will be in place to access the Upper Village via Carriage Way.
  • Traffic delays are expected on Carriage way near lot 1. Please drive carefully and pay attention to course marshals and safety officials.
  • Parking in the Village will be extremely limited or unavailable during the event. Please respect parking signage and utilize free public transportation provided by the Village Shuttle.

Trails
The following trails are part of the Tough Mudder Course and will have heavy race traffic during the event.

  • Brush Creek Trail (from Creekside to Wood Road)
  • Sleigh Ride
  • Mountain View Trail
  • Campground Connector
  • Ditch Trail
  • Village Bound

Additional details can be found online at www.tosv.com. Motorists and trail users are asked to please obey signage or choose alternative routes.
