Pitkin County Vision 2050 aims to realize the community we all imagine. Based on our core community values, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) tasked the Community Growth Advisory Committee to develop a comprehensive set of recommendations to help achieve a shared vision for the future. Implement bold climate action while balancing our economy, preserving our rural and wild lands, and supporting an equitable and affordable community.

This comprehensive approach integrates four core guiding values - Bold Climate Action, Balanced Economy, Rural Preservation, and Equity & Affordability - to set a vision and path ahead for our community for the next 25 years. It updates the County’s Comprehensive Plan and revises Land Use, building, and Energy Codes to provide a roadmap of progress toward a sustainable and equitable community.
