July 21, 2014—Snowmass Village, Colo.—Two members of the Snowmass Village Police Department—Dave Heivly and Todd Haller—have been promoted to Police Sergeant, filling a position vacated by Brian Olson upon his promotion to Chief of Police on July 2, 2014.

With more than 30 years of experience between Heivly and Haller, they bring a high level of familiarity with the Snowmass Village community, strong relationships with local businesses, and an ethic of customer service to the position.

“They have shown outstanding dedication, leadership, and some impressive team work and have earned their new positions,” Olson said. “I look forward to working with them as part of our management team.”

Heivly and Haller are both heavily involved in officer training and education through the Upper Roaring Fork Valley’s cooperative regional training program, where Haller has served as regional training director since 2002, and Heivly has served as a trainer for 15 years. This involvement has helped the department foster positive working relationships with neighboring agencies and communities.

In addition, Haller has taught at the Law Enforcement Academy for 15 years, providing training for officers across the nation.

“Every day I reflect on how fortunate I am to be a part of such an amazing public safety family, and I’m excited to take on a new role with the department,” Heivly said. “The community support and approval for Brian’s promotion to Chief, and his decision to promote Todd and I has been overwhelming and humbling. With Brian’s leadership, we will continue to strive to make Snowmass Village a safe and special place to live and play.”
