Snowmass Village, Colo.--November 5, 2013--The Town of Snowmass Village named Anne Martens as the new Director of Public Works. She will start on December 16th.
Martens has worked in the management and operations of public infrastructure for fifteen years. She currently serves as the Director of Public Works for the Town of Fergus Falls, Minnesota - a community of 13,000 residents. There, she directs a team of forty-seven employees responsible for the delivery of important public services including--but not limited to--water, wastewater, refuse, airport, streets, fleets, and facilities.
Prior to her five year tenure in Fergus Falls, she held the position of Public Works Director of Gypsum, Colo., and served as the Assistant Town Engineer for Avon, Colo.
"At each position I've held, I have gained the technical experience, passion for customer service, and leadership and team building skills necessary to serve the Town of Snowmass Village well,” said Martens. "I enjoy working in local government and in small towns with a great community feel."
As Director of Public Works for Snowmass Village, Martens will not only oversee the day-to-day operations of the four divisions within the department including Road, Solid Waste and Recycling, Fleet, and Facilities Maintenance but also be responsible for long-term strategy and asset management.
"We're thrilled to welcome Anne to the Town organization, and we feel that she'll be a valuable addition to our team," said Gary Suiter, interim Town manager. "She brings a wealth of expertise in the efficient and effective management of teams that can deliver great service no matter the season to residents and visitors."
Martens holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a minor in geography from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
