Understanding Your Bills from Holy Cross Energy
The Snowmass Surcharge, officially known as the Snowmass Local Government Underground Surcharge, was implemented in May of 2006 as a result of a local government mandate requiring Holy Cross Energy to reduce the visual impacts of an electric power transmission and distribution improvement project for the Snowmass Village area. The government mandate allows Holy Cross to recover over $7.6 million of additional costs incurred reducing the visual impact of the improvement project. The $22 million project was completed in early 2006. Learn more about the project at Holy Cross Energy's website.
The Snowmass Surcharge area includes Holy Cross consumers in the Town of Snowmass Village, Brush Creek Village, and within a geographical area generally described as lying between Snowmass Village and Highway 82 and between Wildcat Road and Owl Creek Road. The surcharge appears on affected Holy Cross consumer's monthly billing statements labeled as "Local Gov UG Charge". Learn more about the rate structure.
