Clint Kinney Awarded 2022 Manager of the Year

The Colorado City & County Management Association (CCCMA) named Town Manager Clint Kinney the 2022 Manager of the Year.

Kinney received his award at CCCMA annual conference on April 26th in Glenwood Springs, CO.

Kinney, who has served as Snowmass Village’s Town Manager since 2014, holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Kansas and has enjoyed a decades-long career in local government. Clint’s enthusiasm for public service inspires his colleagues, fellow managers, and those aspiring to enter careers in local government. This award recognizes Clint’s dedication to the profession and his commitment to Snowmass Village through the COVID-19 pandemic, rising inflation, and workforce shortages.

Community Spring Cleaning

Town Clean-Up Day Friday, May 19
Snowmass Village will host Town Clean-Up Day on Friday, May 19th. The event is sponsored by Alpine Bank and Snowmass Village, with volunteer support from the Snowmass Village Rotary Club.

Trash and recycling bags will be available for pickup anytime between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. at the Daly Lane Depot. Participants will be thanked with lunch at Town Park beginning at noon. If you or your company plan to participate, please register by following the link below. Registration is not necessary to participate, but it does help with planning how much food is needed.

Short-Term Rental (STR) Permit Portal Now Available

The Town of Snowmass Village’s short-term rental (STR) permit portal is now available online at tosv.com/str. 

STR regulations go into effect on May 1, 2023. 

If you rent your property for 30 days or less, you must have a STR permit.

You will find Bikes, skis, and much more at the annual Police Lost and Found Auction.

Bear and Cub

Spring is here, and so are the Bears and Coyotes.

Snowmass Village is in prime black bear habitat. Residents are encouraged to be bear-aware and minimize the risk of bear-human interactions as bears awaken this spring.

2023 Brush Creek Culvert Construction Project

The Brush Creek Culvert Reconstruction Project will begin on May 15, 2023.  The  Project involves replacing and reconstructing the culvert beneath Brush Creek Road immediately downhill from the intersection with Owl Creek Road. The reconstruction of this culvert will result in the closure of Brush Creek Road from the Blue Roof Condos to the intersection with Owl Creek Road from approximately May 15, 2023, to November 1, 2023.

Balloon Festival

Summer Free Concert Series Line-up is announced.

The Snowmass Free Concert Series celebrates 31 years of live music this summer! This local’s favorite, long-standing summer tradition returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30pm, June 15-August 24.

The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds, including soul, pop, funk, rock & roll, country, bluegrass, and more.

Spring Trail Conditions & Closures

Pay Heed When Hitting Trails in Spring

The weather is warming, but don't head for your favorite trail yet. Many local trails are closed for wildlife protection, and many others are snowy, muddy, and unprepared for traffic. Please respect wildlife closures and not ride or hike on wet and muddy trails. 

Spring Season Closures:

  • Rim Trail North, including the North Mesa Equestrian Trail: Closed December 1 - Opens May 16
  • Sky Mountain Park trails: Closed December 1 - Opens May 16
  • Seven Star Trail: Closed December 1 - Opens May 16
  • Tom Blake: Closed April 25 - Opens June 21
  • Government - Burnt Mountain: Closed May 15 - Opens June 28
  • The south portion of the Rim Trail is open year-round.

Ruedi reservoir

Ruedi Reservoir Boat Ramp Open

Ruedi Boating Season Begins Sunday, May 1
The Ruedi Reservoir boat ramp will open along with watercraft inspection and decontamination for aquatic nuisance species at 8:00 a.m., May 1. 

Inspections and decontamination are required to protect the reservoir from invading destructive species such as zebra and quagga mussels.
