Snowmass Village, Colorado – The Town of Snowmass Village and Krabloonik, Inc. have reached a conditional agreement to responsibly wind down the Krabloonik dog sledding operations over one final season.
The Town Council will be asked to approve a settlement agreement at its July 10 regular Town Council meeting.
With the care of the dogs as the focus, Krabloonik will create a “Wind-Down Plan” which shall include, amongst other things, plans for the humane adoption-out and re-homing of the Krabloonik dogs. Krabloonik may keep as many dogs as required to successfully run their traditional operations for a final season. The Town will market and support the dog sled operation in a similar manner to years past. By June 1, 2024, Krabloonik operations will end.
The Town will provide oversight to the Wind-Down Plan and will include assistance from a Town-retained veterinarian. During this time, increased off-tether time and improved recording-keeping requirements will be in place.
At the conclusion of the 2023/2024 dog sled season, Krabloonik will complete its re-homing of the dogs and ultimately remediate and turn the property over to the Town, relinquishing any further right to possession or option to purchase the property.
The Town is pleased to have worked with Krabloonik to develop this agreement as it ensures proper care for the dogs and allows for a humane wind down of the kennel operation.
